About the Collection

It started out as a yearning.

A need to go out there and point at an invisible string and shout, “Hey look, guys! Remember? We have a string that ties us all to each other.”

A longing to remember, and remind, that we not as separate or alone as we sometimes think we are.

While painting this collection, I came across a quote by Brené Brown that gave words to what I was trying to express:

“Spirituality…[is] the deeply held belief that we are inextricably connected to one another by a force greater than ourselves—a force grounded in love and compassion.”

“A Remembrance of Our Interconnectedness” Collection

About the paintings in the collection:

A Painting. A Poem. A Remembrance.

Each original watercolor is painted on handmade paper made from 100% recycled cotton and paired with a poem.

“A Remembrance of Our Interconnectedness” collection

The colors in this collection bleed and blend organically into one another, much like our lives do. A reminder that our words, actions, and very presence touch other lives in small, unassuming ways. And in far reaching ways.

The pieces in the collection remind us that we are not a single thread in existence, but an interwoven tapestry of breath, dreams, and colors.

How beautiful is it to know that we are never truly alone?

I hope each painting and the poem that accompanies it help you to remember that.

“Marks Upon Each Other”

MARKS UPON EACH OTHER

They say we wound in relationship

And we heal in relationship

Perhaps we’re all walking around

With crayons in our hands

Making marks upon each other

Like invisible tattoos

Etched on the heart

“What If”

WHAT IF

What if

Loneliness was the sound of noise

The cacophony of everyday life

And connection was the melody

In between the silence

Of the sky and trees

The rustling leaves

The conversations of birds

Reminding you

That you are a part of

A collective song

“Mind and Body”

MIND AND BODY

Too often we act

as if the body is severed

from the mind

as if they were two separate

planets

darling, they share the same gravity

what happens in mind

is read and felt in body

a connected flow

an offering of wisdom and truth

“Our Roots in the Earth”

OUR ROOTS IN THE EARTH

Sometimes it can feel

Like we’re our own planets

Floating like a single autumn leaf

Seeking gravity

To be seen, to belong

But the earth

She is always holding us

A part of us as we are a part of her

Our roots deep and intertwined

“Ripples”

RIPPLES

Is it not beautiful

That you have magical powers

That just a mere word

A soothing touch

An act of kindness, meanness, or in between

Does not end there

Where you can see it

But floats onward, ripples outward

Moving through other beings

And those who they touch

Unfurling

In ways you could never imagine

“A Remembrance”

A REMEMBRANCE

In case you forget

you have only to gaze outward

to where earth and sky hug

allow the breeze to carry you

like dandelion seeds

then your spirit will remember

the intricate dance we all flow in

that we are ocean waves

forever merging

the remembrance

that we are all connected

that you do not exist alone

“The Ones Before Me”

THE ONES BEFORE ME

My life is vertical

As much as it is horizontal

A product of the choices

And sacrifices

Of the lives lived

Before me

Through my mother and father

And the ones before them

In my bones

Are my ancestors

“Your Legacy”

YOUR LEGACY

The ones we’ve loved

They never truly left

And once we’re gone

A part of us remains

Even once we’re long forgotten

Our legacy remains

In the love we have given

Through the lives we have touched
